Click here to play a sample clip of translation into BSL of the Gospel of Mark. This is Mark 2:1-12. This is one of the first parts of translation that we have attempted and it is a DRAFT. It has been translated by a team of Deaf and hearing people and then filmed professionally. We are currently in a consultation process for this clip and are asking for feedback from Deaf people. We will use the comments that we collect to improve this clip and the rest of the translation.
We would welcome your views too. We need to know if you think this is clear and reflects the Bible, but in a way that is clear BSL. If you have any comments about the clip, please contact Tracey, our research student at traceyr(at)bslbible.org.uk (Please replace (at) with @. This is a measure to prevent spam).

After a meeting with the Bible Society, in 2007, they invited us to create a business plan in order to discuss possible funding or opportunities for us to work with their organisation. We submitted this business plan and their initial response to this was to give us £10,000, and they will look into the possibility of further funding later. This is excellent news and it means we can make sure that the Project becomes established. The Bible Society continues to support us in other ways too. We recieved £30,000 from Spring Harvest in 2008, to enable us to employ a part time employee as Strategic Development Officer for 12 months and also to continue the work of the translation teams throughout 2009. |
